~2008~

Crude Awakening at Boulder BurnWorks

Friday January 4th 2008 - 4747 Pearl - Unit N+1

Selected film footage from Burning Man 2007 leading up to Crude Awakening.
This art piece was the brainchild of Bay Area artists Dan Das Mann and Karen Cusolito. A 99-foot-tall wooden oil derrick around which stand eight metal sculptured human figures, most of whose surfaces are made of connected metal rings, each designed with their own different participant-activated fire effects via propane tubing. The statues are 540 percent of the size of a normal human.

Late Saturday night in Black Rock City the derrick was ignited in a spectacular 1,000-foot column of flame, primed by 900 gallons of jet fuel and fed by 2,000 gallons of liquid propane.

Experience Crude Awakening, plus other selected video, art, music, libations, community, and social commentary at the BurnWorks ~ First Friday 2008 starting at 7:00pm

BurnWorks Grand Opening

Sunday, November 4, 2007

So the Boulder BurnWorks grand opening party was a success. Lots of our friends came out to support our new venture and a good time was had by all. We plan on throwing some more events in the near future such as indie film nights and art viewings of local artists. We plan on cranking out a few bikes to sell in the near future. Check back here for updates.

Side Car complete!

Saturday, November 3, 2007

At long last, the "Designated Biker" aka the "Spectatormobile" aka sidecar is complete. It was a race to the finish to get it painted and put back together for the Burnworks grand opening, but we did it. Three cheers to Whiskey Drew for helping out on this project.

Grand Opening November 2nd!

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

In the near dystopic future, the world will suffer anelectromagnetic pulse which will render all forms of motorized transportation useless.

Rising from the ashes, tall bikes, choppers, playabikes, rickshaws, unicycles, swing bikes, cruisers andother bipedal velocreations will find themselves atthe top of the food chain. Pedal power will reshapehumanity and remind them of what is important.

The BurnWorks will be leading the way, rebuildingsociety one bike at a time.

Are you ready to fight the future? If you are, pleasejoin us for the grand opening of the BoulderBurnWorks, the newest art collective/metalworkingstudio to hit Boulder.

Side Car Bike and other curiosities

Sunday, October 21, 2007

We're busy at the BurnWorks these days. B-Rad is working on an English cruiser restoration, Whisky Claus is taking on an ambitious project and designing a Longjohn. I won't tell you what it is, but you may see it soon.

My current project is a side car bike. The side car has been attached, but the framing is not quite done. Eventually there will be a built in seat that can be flipped up so there will be room for groceries, dogs and maybe a case of beer or two. It might not be ready for this week's cruiser ride, but we will see.
